Suez Cement one of the main sponsors of the "Revival of the Egyptian Museum" Initiative

Cairo, 15 of December 2014. Suez Cement is one of the sponsors of the Revival of the Egyptian Museum Initiative that has been launched on December 15th in the presence of Eng. Ibrahim Mahlab, the Prime Minister of Egypt, Prof. Dr. Mamdouh Eldamaty, the Minister of Antiquities and Prof. Dr. Galal Said, the Governor of Cairo.The Revival of the Egyptian Museum Initiative is done through collaborative efforts between private and public sectors, between institutions, experts and volunteers. Suez Cement has sponsored the rehabilitation works of the hall n. 30 located in the East Wing of the Tutankhamun Gallery.

The Group’s cement has proudly built some of Egypt’s well-known landmarks and the Egyptian Museum is one of the most important historical monuments in the heart of Cairo.
At the press conference, Mr. Bruno Carre’, CEO of Suez Cement Group of Companies (SCGC) stated “The Revival of the Egyptian Museum is yet another milestone showcasing Suez Cement’s dedication to sustain and preserve cultural heritage. Suez Cement is determined to continue making meaningful and valuable contributions to the socio-economic development of Egypt.”

The objective of the Revival Initiative is to collect and analyze the knowledge necessary for the development of an efficient, practical and sustainable rehabilitation plan. It addresses the pressing physical needs of the Egyptian Museum, ensuring that appropriate steps are taken so that the museum remains a reference destination for both national and international visitors. 

The Ministry of Antiquities has been implementing this initiative in collaboration with Environmental Quality International (EQI) since May 2012. EQI is an internationally acclaimed investment and consulting firm specializing in natural and cultural heritage conservation, and sustainable development. The strategy adopted to achieve sustainability in implementing and financing the works emphasizes the cooperation between the private and public sectors made possible by an exemplary partnership, engaging members of the business community, research institutions and scholars, both locally and internationally.
