Suez Cement organizes Health and safety workshop with participation of heads of contractors’ companies

The Suez Cement Group of Companies (SCGC) organized a workshop in Kattameya plant for contractors about the occupational safety and health. The workshop aimed at raising contractors’ awareness of the culture of safety in the workplace through diagnosis and analysis of workplace accidents in the cement sector and how to deal with such accidents professionally.

 The workshop was attended by heads of contractors’ companies in the Group and Mr. Jose Maria, CEO of Suez Cement Group, Mr. Salem Sousou, Technical director, Mr. Sayed El-Desouky, Procurement director and Eng. Mohamed Shoala, Health and Safety Director, as well as plants managers and a number of employees and contractors workers.

 In his opening speech, Mr. Jose Maria said that commitment to standards of the occupational safety and health reflects the company’s strategy and its interest in implementing the latest initiatives in this field as well as adoption of the rules and procedures at all levels to protect safety of workers in order to return home safe after a hard work day.

 He stressed importance of commitment to implementation of all safety requirements, saying that the organization of this workshop comes within the framework of deepening the culture of safety with contractors in order to be reflected as a lifestyle in the workplace and personal life. He pointed out that the Group’s professional adoption of safety performance has led to a remarkable reduction in the workplace accidents, the matter which affected positively the efficiency and safety of production operations.

 The workshop included a technical presentation by Eng. Mohamed Shoala, who explained to the participants, who reached more than 70 ones, how to avoid injuries in the workplace. He showed the lessons learned from previous accidents that can be avoided through taking preemptive and corrective measures in how to deal properly and professionally with the industrial equipment and machines.

 Participants in the workshop then paid a visit to the occupational safety and health training room and listened to an explanation about the correct practices in the technical and professional dealing with the equipment and machines, which witness frequent injuries because of incorrect dealing, with the aim of improving standards of quality in the occupational safety and health on a hand while reducing and avoiding accidents on the other.
