Suez Cement and the NCCM distribute 250 birth certificates and ID cards to women and children

Helwan, 29 March 2009. Today Mr. Roberto Callieri, Managing Director of Suez Cement group of Companies (SCGC), and H.E. Moshira Khattab, Minister of Population and Family Affairs distributed 250 ID cards and birth certificates to women and children in school enrollment age living in Helwan and Tourah districts.

The event, which was also attended by, Helwan Governor, H.E. Dr. Hazem Al Quaidy, was held at Tourah Cement Company, a subsidiary of Suez Cement group of Companies.

“Today, we are celebrating the right to a legal identity and we are going to distribute 150 ID cards and 100 birth certificates for the women and children of Kafr El Elw and El Maasara.

Birth certificates and ID cards will give them an official identity, allowing them easier access to services such as education and health care, as well as exercise the right to a decent and high-quality life” stated Mr. Roberto Callieri.

The event is part of the project “ For the Smile of our Children”  launched in April 2007 by Suez Cement group in cooperation with the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood (NCCM). The project aims to improve the quality of life for the children and their families living in Kafr El Elw and El Maasara area.
  
Since 2007, Suez Cement group of Companies and NCCM have undertaken several initiatives focused on raising environmental and health awareness, support medical care and health standards, improve recreational and sports activities as well as enhance the economic and social standards. To date the project upgraded six schools in the target area, developed two medical and health centers in Kafr El Elw and el Maasara areas, implemented 20 environmental camps involving 10 schools, 17 NGOs, 64 teachers and 1300 students to develop “green corner” spirit in schools and public places.
