Helwan Cement Company opens tailoring training workshop for women in cooperation with Helwan University

Out of commitment to the role of the Suez Cement Group of Companies (SCGC) to develop the neediest areas surrounding its plants, Kafr El-Elw Club witnessed today the opening of tailoring and embroidery training workshop for women and girls with the aim of empowering them economically.

This step comes in implementation of the multi-lateral cooperation protocol among Helwan Cement Company, Helwan University and Kafr El-Elw Club with the aim of holding training for 150 trainees annually thus qualifying them to obtain job opportunities in this field. It comes within the framework of achieving objectives of sustainable development to the surrounding areas.

The ceremony was attended by a number of the company leaders,  professors from Helwan university, board members of Kafr El-Alw Sporting Club, Senator of Helwan Constituency Mahmoud Bakry, Chairwoman of Helwan Neighborhood, Hala Sayed and senior families.

SCGC Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mohamed Hegazy expressed happiness to provide women and girls with the tailoring and embroidery training through opening such workshop, thus helping them to find the job that help in improving their families’ standards of living in addition to building their independent social and economic personalities in the family and community.

Hegazy said that the project reflects supporting and empowering women, strengthening their constructive role in the family and society as key partners in achieving sustainable economic development. He added that the project is fully consistent with the spirit and directives of "Egypt Vision 2030", while integrating with this vision’s axes of work that seek building a just society which sees equal rights and opportunities and achieves the highest degrees of cohesion, solidarity and integration among members of society, the matter which is adopted by the world countries as an integrated development approach.

For his part, Ayman Abo El Fadel,  Deputy plant Manager of Helwan Cement plant, said that this workshop comes within the framework of the Group’s initiatives in support of the areas surrounding its plants through reaching the neediest categories in light of the efforts made by the social problems study and monitoring center in Helwan University to support families and provide occupational training by the University’s specialist professors while connecting the outcomes to the labor market needs thus helping in the Egyptian State’s plans to reduce unemployment.
