SCGC marks World Health and Safety Day
Series of road safety awareness-raising activities
All over April 2016 Suez Cement Group of Companies has implemented series of road safety awareness-raising activities as part of its celebration of the UN World Day for Safety and Health at Work to ensure the importance of continued promotion of preventive health and safety culture.
The awareness campaign started at the beginning of the month with a visit to Tourah and Kafr el Elw schools where we gave out the game “Your Road is Safe” supported and designed by SCGC to raise children’s awareness about sustainable road safety.
On the 28th of April, on the occasion of the UN World Day for Safety, a number of SCGC employees led by the Country Safety Manager Mr. Fabio Sappia and the Corporate Safety Team, distributed booklets about road safety instructions at the Cairo-Sokhna road toll gate, highlighting safe driving rules and urging people to follow them while driving, to avoid wrong behaviors leading to accidents and loss of lives every year. On the same road, which leads to touristic places especially in this season, the Company has reiterated its safety messages on the highway billboards.
Meanwhile in the plants, awareness to cement trucks drivers was completed and high visibility safety jackets were distributed as a gift.
With this initiative Suez Cement Group of Companies aims to improve driving habits and set a good driving example, even if others don’t. “If our efforts can save a single life or prevent a traffic accident, this initiative is then worthy of attention”, said Mr. Bruno Carre’, Suez Cement CEO.
